cheney appeared on one of the Sunday television talk shows this week.
I wonder why this wasn't the headline on the morning paper today:
"cheney Admits bush's "War on Terror" and U.S. Foreign Policy In General Under bush Regime Is A Spectacular Failure"
Asked by Bob Schaeffer about the observation made by some that Cheney himself is a "changed'' man, the vice president said only one thing has changed since he and President Bush assumed office: "9/11. And the stakes of terrorist threats that the United States faces today have only increased since then," Cheney said. Calling fear of the detonation of a nuclear weapon inside an American city "a very real threat.... It's something that we have to worry about and defeat every single day. ''
So, there we have it, right there in cheney's own words.
According to the bush administration, foreign terrorists attacked the U.S. on September 11, 2001. bush, incorrectly assuming his "job" is to protect the American People and the "Homeland", announced his infamous "war on terror", had the existing federal security agencies whose job actually is to protect our country and its Citizens against attack by foreign powers reorganized into the largest federal bureaucracy ever created, and then ordered our military to invade and occupy two foreign nations based on lies and intelligence reports that were deliberately manipulated by bush administration officials.
After the loss of thousands of additional American lives, the unlawful deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens, wasting hundreds of billions of dollars, decimating the ground forces of the U.S. military, a mountain of scandals involving crimes, graft, and corruption, and failure after failure in the foreign policy department, where do we, as a nation stand?
According to cheney the U.S. is: "In greater danger . . ." than when bush instituted his make-believe responses to the events of September 11, 2001.
Why? Because bush got it wrong.
The job of the President is to: "Faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and to the best of his ability protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
bush, being the pretender to the throne he is, didn't understand this, or simply didn't care.
Does it matter whether the Congress exercise its Constitutionally mandated authority and remove from office the bush administration including the vice president, and each and every cabinet member?
Indeed, it does. Because until these criminals are removed and the dangerous policies they instituted reversed, our nation remains in dire danger.
