Get ready to be bombarded with a load of crapola. With days left until possibily the most important mid-term election this country has ever seen, Karl Rove will be pulling out all the stops this week.
The key- to keep the real news out of the minds of voters...at least until after the election.
Today you will hear a lot about local fascist and warmonger, Rep. Duncan Hunter, who plans to announce that he wants to be President in 2008. You can read more about this insanity on my LIBERAL SAN DIEGO BLOG today.
Rove will be making sure the mainstream media avoids talking about the fact that today, at least 80 people were killed or found dead in Iraq, including 33 victims of a bomb attack on laborers lined up to find a days work in Baghdad's Sadr city Shiite slum. The U.S. military announced the death of the 100th service member killed in combat this month.
The biggest concern for Democrats is problems at the voting booths. Again you will not here about the fact that Long lines and long counts threaten to mar next month's U.S. congressional elections as millions of Americans put new voting machines and rules to the test, election officials and experts say.Aside from that Rove also is hoping that the Diebold machines, especially here in San Diego County, will help in key elections.
Rove is counting on the fact that voters will not be armed with all the facts they need before they go into the polls. For example, here in California- especially here in San Diego where we are having electronic voting machines forced upon us, most voters will not know that anyone who refuses to use the machines, paper ballots will be available at each precinct. California Secretary of State Bruce McPherson sent a letter to all county registrars Oct. 3 requiring that backup ballots be available should machines malfunction or if a voter simply chooses not to use one.
What this report does not tell you is that Nazi Registrar of Voters- Mikal Haas has stated that he will not count the paper ballots until the NEXT THURSDAY after the election.
Plus, as Brad Friedman from Bradblog reported om am1360 KLSD yesterday, Haas has stated that he will not be supplying a lot of these paper ballots- presumably in the 50th and 52nd districts. No doubt, if a machine breaks down, you will be told to wait in line until it is fixed without knowing or being told thatyou have a right to vote on the paper ballot. It is important that you know what options you have if you polling place has these touch screen machines- an informed voter is the best voter in America.
But you probably won't hear much about that- especially here in San Diego on all the right-leaning newscasts. Instead you will get coverage of Bush on the stump- energizing his homophobic base to vote next Tuesday.
So I look at all that today plus a story about the DOD losing track of weapons in Iraq.
My Dumb Ass Of The Week is House Majority Leader John Boehner who had some warm words for the embattled defense secretary on Sunday..what an idiot...the sad thing is people actually believe this- especially in Indiana as we will see today.
All that and more on today's Damage Control.
