I think the new slogan, for the GOP in the mid-term elections should be, "DO AS WE SAY-NOT AS WE DO". Today the Bush administration is pointing one finger at China whilst ignoring the other three pointing at themselves. It seems that the US is the biggest seller of weapons of mass destruction in the world, and yet we still point fingers at other countries. Plus George had another rare press conference- I unspun a few of the lies he spewed out to the complicit press. And I leave you with a question for he weekend- If we would have spent more time talking and using diplomacy around the world rather then pointing the finger at other nations or other religions- telling others to do what we refuse to do- would we have this worry about terror groups and nations wanting to attack us?Think about that as you sift through this weekends spin in Bush's America. See you Monday and in the chat tonight ;D LJ user link: pracuel.livejournal.com/100162.htmlPM page link- www.powersandmorrison.com/Blogs-MainPages/Blogs-PRacuel.html

I am posting this so I can refer to it next week, but you all (if anyone but Nathan and Gleen stop by here that is) might find this useful in the coming weeks: www.globalissuesgroup.com/geneva/convention1.html#3Bush said the following article was vague- I think not when you read the whole thing- it seems pretty clear.Art. 3. In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each Party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions: (1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. To this end, the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons: (a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture; (b) taking of hostages; (c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment; (d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgement pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples. (2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for. An impartial humanitarian body, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, may offer its services to the Parties to the conflict.
The Parties to the conflict should further endeavour to bring into force, by means of special agreements, all or part of the other provisions of the present Convention.
The application of the preceding provisions shall not affect the legal status of the Parties to the conflict. and it seems like Bush has violated this as well-Art. 50. Grave breaches to which the preceding Article relates shall be those involving any of the following acts, if committed against persons or property protected by the Convention: wilful killing, torture or inhuman treatment, including biological experiments, wilfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health, and extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly. Still think the Bushies are not international war criminals? www.genevaconventions.org/This is from the blog of an actual (military?) interogator and according to insomnia on LiveJournal this guy trains interogators as well...brings up some more really good points: pecunium.livejournal.com/200672.html
