What is really The State of the Union?
Do all of our citizens comprehend the definition of what a President is supposed to report every January of his term(s)? It says it right here in the title; The State of the Union. I know the President rarely speaks of what that is, so, let's see, just how is the present status of United States of America...
According to The World Fact Book at www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html
USA's Population is over 298 billion people as of January 2007.
Shouldn't a President speak of this in a State of the Union speech?
I believe this is too many people actually to be relying on the energy, food and water resources available in 9 million square km. of which only six percent is suited for growing crops, because of animal farming, irrigation and land condition.
Bluntly stated; there are not enough resources for everyone so, either some people have to go one way or another or stop multiplying.
Let's look at natural hazards for a moment. We all saw what a Hurricane Katrina can do, there are also volcanoes, fires, mudslides, flooding, earthquakes, freezing and tornadoes to contend with. What are the improvements to warn of natural disasters? What has their consequences been for the USA to face 2005 to 2006, Mr. President? And how are we doing on relief supplies to older calamities?
Do you think a president would give us an update in a State of the Union Address?

What is the present state of the economy? Do you think a president to tell the citizens have a bill of over $28,500. for every man, woman and child? Yes, imagine a family of four receiving a call to send in their share of the USA National Debt--send $114,000., let's leave the books balanced for the incoming president of the 2008 elections. Of course, it is not even mentioned that the total national debt is close to $9,000,000,000,000.00 But during the past year how many heads of corporations got how many millions of dollars in bonuses?
I believe he is not going to speak of how the economy is.
Do you think the honest unemployment figures of the past year will be mentioned? It is written that unemployment is 4.8% and poverty is at 12%. Will they combine all the numbers of unemployed, on and off benefits, homeless and discouraged? Will the President explain why over a million jobs were not created and why the job growth doesn't keep up with even the growth of the population? He's not going to mention the consequences of the unemployment figures and how the rate of poverty has grown wildly in the past year. Nor how the million of illegal aliens have taken jobs from kitchen aides, janitors to hospital aides. He's not going to remind people of their hungry or lack of ability to provide for their family all because of "other" concerns.

What is the present state of peace in this Union? No peace, only war, deaths, corruption and for what? Three times (at least) there have been huge amounts of troops sent off to war; it is nothing new. This is interesting; it's written that we consume 20.7 bbl/day of oil, while we produce 7.6 bbl/day and still make money on exportation of 1.05 bbl/day. The same is written for gas; we use more than we have but are always able to export some.
We need not worry about war and defending the "American Way." Freedom, Capitalism and Democracy will prevail; gosh no, we have over 108 million people who are fit for military duty and it's growing at 4 million a year. It is obvious we are well protected because there is presently no other job for them to do.
