But like all 'publican pukes, he sees no need for any consequences to follow from this attempt to subvert our Republic and our system of justice.
gonzales called a news conference and gave us all the finger.
Schumer has called for the attorney general to resign. gonzales claims he intends to remain in his current position and make the necessary corrections to insure this issue concerning the independent action of the U.S. Attorneys does not happen again. (Does that include the reinstatement of those federal officials who were wrongfully fired? Does that include uncovering within the next 30 days who was involved in this attempt to politicize our judicial system and prosecute them to the full extent of the law? I won't hold my breath.)
Now, the ball's in the court belonging to the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. It's time to hold the administration accountable. gonzales' responsibility as attorney general was to insure the independent action of U.S. Attorneys to fulfill their position on behalf of the American People in accordance to federal law. The irresponsibility by gonzales that allowed this situation to arise, the assurances given in testimony before Congress regarding this matter a few weeks ago, his failure to bring those responsible to the bar of justice to answer for their actions has proven gonzales does not possess the competence to fulfill his oath of office.
For the good of the nation, and to fulfill their oaths of office to protect and defend the Constitution, it is now the responsibility of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to remove alberto gonzales from the office of attorney general of the United States.
